This Privacy Policy describes how the Lingaro mobile application ("we", "our", or "the app") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our service.
Lingaro uses your device's microphone to power the in-app speaking exercises (SpeakGame feature). Audio is processed by the Android system's on-device SpeechRecognizer service to transcribe your speech into text and check pronunciation. We do not record, store, or transmit your voice to our servers. The audio is processed in real time and discarded immediately after recognition.
When you purchase a Premium subscription, the transaction is processed by Google Play Billing and managed by RevenueCat. We receive an anonymous user identifier and information about your subscription status (active / inactive, plan type). We do not receive or store payment card details.
The app stores your reading progress, vocabulary, and language preferences only on your device (local database). This data is not uploaded to our servers and is removed when you uninstall the app.
The app downloads stories and learning content from Google Firebase (Firestore and Cloud Storage). This is a read-only operation: we deliver content to your device, but we do not upload personal data to Firebase.
If you enable notifications, the app schedules local reminders on your device. We do not send push notifications from a server.
To find and fix bugs, Lingaro uses Google Firebase Crashlytics. When the app crashes or hits a serious error, a report is sent that contains: the stack trace of the error, your device model, operating system version, app version, language setting, available memory and storage, and whether the app was in the foreground. The report also includes a randomly generated installation identifier (Crashlytics Installation UUID) that lets us count how many users a given crash affects.
These reports contain no name, e-mail address, advertising identifier, or the content you read or translate in the app. The data is used solely for stability analysis, never for advertising or profiling. Crash reports are retained by Firebase for a maximum of 90 days.
If you contact us through the in-app contact form, the message you write is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore) so that we can read and answer it. Along with the message we store the e-mail address you provide (optional — only so we can reply), the app version, your app language, the platform, and whether you have an active Premium subscription. This information is used solely to handle your enquiry.
RECORD_AUDIO — for speech recognition exercises (Section 1.1).POST_NOTIFICATIONS — for local reminder notifications.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE — to detect connectivity for content download.RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED — to reschedule local reminders after device restart.Lingaro integrates with the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data:
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your information with third parties except as required by the services listed in Section 3 to provide the app's core functionality.
Subscription and app-state data are retained for as long as your account / installation exists. Crash reports are automatically deleted after 90 days. Messages sent through the contact form are kept until your enquiry is resolved. You can request deletion by contacting us (Section 8). Voice data is not retained at any point.
Lingaro is suitable for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
Depending on your jurisdiction (e.g., GDPR in the EU, CCPA in California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export the data we hold about you. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below.
